Want A Change ? 3 Ways To Improve The Exterior Of Your Home

by Nicholas Jenkins

If you have not made any changes in a while, you may be getting tired of the exterior of your home. If so, there are many ways you can improve the curb appeal. Follow the tips below to get your yard looking great again.

Use Gates

There are many ways you can use gates on your property to give it more appeal. You can even have custom gates made by a company like Carter Fence Co if you want something unique. Some of the ways you can use gates include:

If you would like a little more security, put iron gates at the end of your driveway with a lock on them.  You can also purchase a remote control for the gate to make it easier to open and close when you drive up or out of the driveway. You can hire a gate contractor to help you install the fencing and gates. He or she can also help you determine the best type of fence and gate to install.

If you have flowerbeds and dogs in your yard, they may not play well with each other. To protect your flowerbed, you can put a wire fencing around it with a gate so you can get in and out. This type of fencing still allows you to see your flowers. You can use the same type of fence and gate around your vegetable garden to protect it from animals that may come in your yard.

Create Front Door Symmetry

Creating symmetry at your front door is easy to do, and it makes the home look nicer. You can do this by putting light fixtures on each side of the door. These also makes it safer for people to exit and enter the door after dark. Put two potted plants on each side of the door. Some plants that work well include:

  • Golden Sword Yucca
  • Boxwood
  • Creeping Jenny
  • Bergenia

Hang a wreath in the middle of the door. This can be a spring wreath made with flowers, Christmas winter wreath, a pumpkin wreath for the fall, etc. You can make your own wreath to save money, or you can purchase one at craft stores.

Dress Up Your Mailbox

If you have a mailbox at the end of your driveway, this is one of the first things people see. You can paint the mailbox to match the paint of your house, or paint some unique designs on it. Plant some flowers around the mailbox to liven it up. If you have a brick home, build brick around the mailbox.  You can also purchase some unique mailboxes at many home supply stores.
